Object Name Settee
Description Wood settee with cane seat. Has been painted black with red wood grain. Front legs are vase turned with three rings at top. Back legs are extended from stiles. There are ten stretchers. Front two are cut to vase and ball shape. Seat is cane woven in herringbone pattern. Arms are turned with single ring. Back has two rails and two crest rails. They are both vase and ball shaped but ends are naturalized to resemble plants. Whole piece has been gilded and decorated with acanthus leaves and scrollwork. There is pink pad on seat (may not be original to piece).
