Silver

Another of the major strengths of the collection at Liberty Hall Historic Site is silver. The collections of Liberty Hall Historic Site include silver pieces from the early colonial era to the late Victorian period. The silver ranges geographically from many of the big cities of the US as well as from Kentucky. There a number of famous silversmiths, including Asa Blanchard of Lexington, represented as well. The silver collection demonstrates the breadth, diversity, and beauty of silver craftsmanship and use in 19th century America.

The silver at Liberty Hall Historic Site takes a number of forms and has a number of uses. Some pieces, like the door knocker on the Orlando Brown House, are mostly ornamental. Others, like some of the silverware, are mostly functional. Most fall somewhere in between. The pieces included in the exhibit are merely meant to represent the range of form and function found at Liberty Hall Historic Site. They, like the items in all of the exhibits, will change regularly so please check back often!
