Object Name Medal, Commemorative
Description Bronze commemorative medal commemorating life of Henry Clay. One side has profile of Clay with his name above and a scroll reading "Born April 12, 1777. Died June 29, 1852". The artist's name, C.C. Wright, appears below the profile in very small letters. The other side shows a hand on a scroll laid across a rock with the word "Constitution" across its bottom. Above an inscription reads "The Eloquent Defender Of National Rights And National Independence." Coin rests in a leather case with gold trim on the edges of the outside and inside. The case is velvet lined and has a strip of paper attached below the coin that reads "Do not handle, nor leave exposed to the Air". The case has hook latches on the side.
