Brushstrokes & Blossoms Children's Exhibit
July 24-August 21, 2010

Local children will display their artistic talents in depicting gardens and flowers.  The children involved were mentored by adult artists and, like the members of the Kentucky Watercolor Society, were inspired by the gardens of Liberty Hall.  More than 20 pieces will be displayed in the Orlando Brown House.  This exhibit opens with a public reception on Saturday July 24, 1-3 p.m.

Brushstrokes & Blossoms
June 16-July 17, 2010

The artists of the En Plein Air group of the Kentucky Watercolor Society regularly visit Liberty Hall to be inspired by the homes and gardens.  In this exhibit, their works are on display at the Orlando Brown House.

Threshold
May 14-June 11, 2010

The sculptures of Frankfort native Melanie VanHouten will be on display in the Orlando Brown House.  .  The display is free of charge during regular hours.  Several outdoor pieces will be on display on the grounds through early October.

Words & Watercolor: The Art of Robert Burns Wilson
February 5-May 8, 2010

Robert Burns Wilson was known as "Kentucky's Poet" and the "Poet of the Bluegrass," and for good reason.  An active member of Frankfort society, the poet and artist captured the splendor and visible power of nature in Kentucky.  In this exhibit, Liberty Hall Historic Site explores the life and artwork of Wilson.  On display are seven paintings by Wilson, as well as several handwritten sonnets, created for Mary Mason Scott of Liberty Hall.  The exhibit is located at the Orlando Brown House and will be offered free of charge to visitors when LHHS reopens on March 19.

Engaged About Household Matters
October 1, 2009-June 2010

Focused around the fashions and trends of early 19th Century home interiors, Engaged About Household Matters brings together more than a dozen examples of Federal style furnishings to illustrate what Margaretta Mason Brown would have used to furnish her parlor and dining room when she moved into Liberty Hall in 1802.

The exhibit is shown in Liberty Hall’s parlor, which is the first room in the house to have undergone extensive restoration and preparatory work for carpet and wallpaper. This show is the first exhibition that focuses on Margaretta Brown’s role in initially decorating Liberty Hall upon her arrival. In addition to historic furniture and decorative arts, visitors will see contemporary carpet samples that may be used to complete the parlor next year.

Teddy Bear Treasures
November 12-December 20, 2009

This special exhibit for the holiday season brought the spirit of childhood to the Orlando Brown House.  Teddy bears, donated by the Frankfort and Louisville communities, were the guests of honor in the house's formal parlor.  Visitors received a souvenir booklet that told the "life story" of each bear.
