Julienne Foster was
named Executive Director in January of 2013. She is a native of
Frankfort, Kentucky, where she attended high school. She has an M.A.
in Museum Administration from the University of Nebraska and a B.A.
in Arts Administration from the University of Kentucky. She has
worked for various institutions including the Kentucky Historical
Society, The Richmond History Center of Virginia, the Wiregrass
Museum of Art in Alabama, and did graduate work at the Museum of
Nebraska History, the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery, as well as the
Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Site in Hodgenville,
Kentucky. She also worked as an intern at the Guggenheim Museum in
New York City and the University of Kentucky Art Museum. Most
recently she administered grants and negotiated contracts for the
University of Kentucky Research Foundation. Her specialization is
museum collections management and Kentucky costume and textile
history.

Jennifer L. Koach

A native of northeast Ohio,
Jennifer Koach came to Liberty Hall in 2008 from Hillsborough, North
Carolina, where she was executive director of the Orange County
Historical Museum for nearly four years. Jennifer holds an
M.A. in Public History from North Carolina State
University and a B.A. in History from the University of
Richmond. She has experience at several historic
sites and museums, working in education, events, exhibit development, and
collections management. She has learned how to cultivate
cotton, care for goats, and harvest pecans. At Liberty Hall,
Jennifer can often be found working with children, and occasionally
meeting with them as Margaretta Brown. She is also the resident
hearthside cooking demonstrator.
Kate
Hesseldenz

Kate came to LHHS in 2012 from the UK Special Collections
Library where she served as administrator of the reading
room. Previously, Kate served as director of
Educational Services and National History Day at the
Kentucky Historical Society, administrator for the state’s
Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Commemoration, collections
management assistant for U.K.’s Webb Museum of Anthropology,
and education assistant at the Denver Art Museum. She
previously worked with Karla Nicholson as an assistant in
the Museum Services and Community History programs at KHS.
She holds a B.A. in Art History and Anthropology from
Indiana University and an M.A. in Anthropology and Museum
Studies from the University of Denver.
