School Programs


Liberty Hall Historic Site offers programs for school groups that are designed to help meet the requirements of Kentucky Core Content for Assessment, while being lots of fun!

Brown Family History Tour
Take a journey into the first years of our capital’s settlement by exploring the home of John Brown, one of Kentucky’s first United States senators and a delegate to the Continental Congress, and his wife, Margaretta Mason Brown, an advocate for women’s education and opponent of slavery.  Students will learn about the lives of the Brown family and their role in developing Kentucky.  Presentation includes a 17-minute video. 

Recommended for grades 3-12
Maximum group size is 75
Tour length is approximately 75 minutes (1 hour 15 minutes)
Cost is $2.00 per child; one adult with every 10 children is free, then $3.00 per adult
 

Meet Margaretta Brown
Margaretta Mason Brown, a leader in education and religion in Kentucky, brings her traveling trunk to your school.  In an intimate setting, Margaretta speaks about her early life in New York and her life in Kentucky during the first half of the 19th century.  She focuses on topics of social history, religion, education, childhood, and issues facing women.  Program topics teach 4th grade curriculum.  Program includes hands-on activities for students.  Liberty Hall Historic Site covers the cost of travel to your school.

Recommended group size 1-2 classes (up to 50 students)

Program length is approximately 50 minutes
Program is free for a limited time only; make reservations early.
